mi pequeño mundo de papel The rustic sound, the melodies, the feeling, the MySpace years. There is so much beauty in this music. Favorite track: the fall.

john316jr I’m partial to the Downey/CSLB days of this group. Saw them on several occasions back then… a pretty unique take on dream pop ala Jesus and Mary Chain, Sebadoh primitiveness, nuggets/pebbles pop rock plus coming from a female angle that those dudes had no claim to. When Mary (drummer) eventually was removed from the equation, this seems like the most logical movement… Talia holds this all down in a way reminiscent of Lou Barlow, Syd Barrett or Dotti Holmberg without their perspective groups

about

You Are A Wildfire was always intended to be released just as it is here, but I lacked the confidence to follow through. People were often telling me to make a more polished record, but the pursuit of that has typically led to me being frustrated with having my vision dismissed. These tracks aren't perfect sonically or in execution, however I feel like they are complete in their intention.

After Mary left Katie the Pest and years of playing small LA clubs and bars, I found myself yearning for quiet comforts and open spaces. With a four-track recorder, my dad's nylon string Martin, I let my words and voice go to places I'd never considered possible before. It seems silly in 2020 to say reaching outside of a genre felt like an effort, but 2005 was a different time. You'll just have to trust me.

I spent a lot of time in forests, craving simplicity and poetry while pining after several people. I love to pine.
